Podsednik Hitless
Scott Podsednik made his debut for the Dodgers Thursday night. However, the newly acquired outfielder went 0-3, although he did reach base with a walk. With the trade deadline approaching, it is unlikely that the Dodgers will do much else.
Right now, they find themselves 7.0 games back in the division, as well as 3.5 games behind in the Wild Card race. It is not impossible for them to make the playoffs, but it looks more unlikely than not. Usually one team gets hot in August, and carries that momentum into the playoffs. The Dodgers need to do that in order to make the playoffs.
Wake Up Manny
A few years ago, Manny Ramirez provided an unbelievable spark for the Los Angeles Dodgers. His batting average with the team in 2008 was a whopping .396. But last year, we all know Ramirez was suspended for steroid use. Due to that, Manny’s numbers were far from impressive last year. And this year, the same can be said.
A .281 average, five home runs, and 28 RBI’s are not bad by any means. However, this is not the Manny Ramirez that we are all used to. Yes, he is getting up there in age. And yes, maybe his performance is bound to be worse since he is off steroids. But for the sake of Dodger fans, Manny needs to start being Manny.
